Red Creek Central School, located on South Street, is truly the backbone of our community. Along with some of its newest renovations, including library/media center, new classrooms and parking areas, and state of the art Community /Fitness Center, Red Creek offers an abundance of opportunity for it’s students and area residents. With its meticulously landscaped grounds, new tennis courts, and playing fields, Red Creek Central is also a very aesthetically pleasing facility.
Students receive individual attention that will help them academically and socially as well. Because of our small student body of just under 1200, and an average student/teacher ratio of 13.5 there is a special bond between the students and faculty, something that many larger schools just can’t achieve.
Red Creek’s strong and ever growing Parent Teacher Association offers a way for interested individuals to get involved in the education of each and every child in our community. The PTA has proved to be one of the most beneficial assets our school has.
Students, faculty and parents should be proud of the fact our district shows higher percentages of high school achievement on Regents examinations than the statewide percentages combined, with mathematics being the highest. In our elementary school, 88% of the third graders tested scored higher than the state reference point for reading, and the most recent mathematics test scores showed 83% of 4th grade students passing with 32% in the highest level!
Some very talented students at Red Creek Central have competed in the Science Olympiad with better than average results for a school our size.
The annual attendance rates for Red Creek Central is 94.8% and average class size for Red Creek is 22 students per class.
While academics have always been a number one priority, sports at Red Creek Central are considered an honorable privilege. Our students continually excel in team spirit, skill and perseverance.
Given the ever increasing demands placed on students, staff and the administration, Red Creek continues to meet these challenges head on always striving to go above and beyond the expectations.
A few words from RCCS's Superintendent David G. Sholes:
Red Creek Central School system is a diamond in the rough, I have been here 13 years and it is a wonderful place to raise children and become part of a community. People here recognize that education for our children is important and back it up by becoming very involved in the school. We have a proud tradition here at Red Creek started by former supervising principal Ralph DeMas to keep our buildings and grounds in excellent condition. Mr. DeMas believed that if your environment was clean and orderly, a greater amount of learning would take place. Over the years we have put forth much effort in keeping Mr. Demas' tradition alive as evidenced by our beautiful South Street campus facility. Our scores on the state's standardized assessments continue to steadily increase over the long term. The district's focus on K-12 literacy has just begun to take hold and will pay dividends in the future. A board of education member once told me that "teaching is where the rubber hits the road", that always stuck with me as we recruit, hire, and train teachers both new and old. As far as I'm concerned our staff is second to none in New York State. Red Creek also has a special education program that serves students with disabilities in a positive and progressive manner. The buildings are staffed with enthusiastic, dedicated, and caring teachers, therapists, and pyschologists.
Since 1991 Red Creek has focused on giving students access to the best technology available. Each year through the local BOCES, the district improves and upgrades its technology. We really put an emphasis on technology for students and believe it enhances all of the learning that takes place in our buildings. This type of effort is indicative of the support received each year by the community and Board of Education. The Board has consistently acknowledged the communities desire to provide a quality education for our students at an affordable price to the taxpayers. This is evidenced by how our graduates each year go on to higher education and/or become productive members of society.
